Preferra Insurance Company RRG Announces Second Dividend and Policyholder Premium Refund

Premium Refunds to Eligible Policyholders

Preferra Insurance Company Risk Retention Group (Preferra RRG) is pleased to announce that its Board of Directors has authorized its second dividend based on strong 2024 financial performance, resulting in a portion of 2024 premiums being refunded to benefit eligible Preferra policyholders. The refund disbursement will send 3.2% of 2024 liability insurance premium payments back to policyholders, to be distributed by checks to be mailed in the first quarter of 2026.

As a mutual insurance company, Preferra RRG is owned by its policyholders and operates for their benefit. When annual financial performance is strong and premium collections exceed annual expenses, Preferra strives to return excess premium to where it belongs—its policyholders.line.

“Preferra was founded on the mission of serving and protecting social workers and human services professionals,” said Dr. Richard L. Jones, PhD, Preferra President. “Returning premium is a reflection of that mission, our financial discipline, and our commitment to maximizing value for policyholders.”

This announcement follows a year of strong financial and operational performance in 2024. As a result, in September 2025 the Preferra Board declared the dividend, marking the company’s second consecutive year of returning excess premium to its members.

Eligibility for the Premium Refund

Policyholders are eligible to receive the premium refund check if they:

  • Maintained a qualifying Preferra liability insurance policy for all 12 months of 2024,
  • Paid $30 or more in annual premium for that qualifying policy in 2024, and
  • Were still insured on September 26, 2025, when the dividend was declared.

If a policyholder held more than one qualifying policy for all 12 months of 2024, the total premiums for all eligible policies will be included in the premium refund calculation.
