A. Elizabeth (Betsy) Cauble, PhD, MSW is Department Head and Associate Professor of Social Work Emeritus at Kansas State University since 1993. She received both her MSW and PhD at the University of Minnesota.
Prior to coming to KSU, Dr. Cauble was a child welfare administrator at Franklin County Children’s Services in Columbus, Ohio. She has also been director of a hospital social work department, a family therapist and director of a custody mediation research project. While completing her graduate education, Dr. Cauble and her husband owned and operated a children’s receiving home.
At KSU, Dr. Cauble has been involved in the development of child welfare training modules, co-directed the SRS Training Grant from 1997 to 2000, conducted focus groups throughout Kansas as part of a US Department of Justice Grant through the Juvenile Justice Authority of Kansas to assess community needs in the area of juvenile justice, and participated in the Manhattan Network to End Violence Against Women.
Dr. Cauble’s National Association of Social Workers leadership roles includes President of the Kansas Chapter (2001-2003); Chair of the Professional Standards Committee KNASW (1997 – 2001); NASW Board Member (2004 – 2007); NASW Board Executive Committee (2006 – 2007); Chair, NASW Membership Committee (2005 – 2007); NASW Board Representative to National PACE Committee; NASW Assurance Service Inc. (ASI) Board Member (2007 to 2015); President of the ASI Board (2011 to 2015); and current member of the Preferra Insurance Company RRG, formerly NASW Risk Retention Group Board of Directors. Dr. Cauble received the Kansas Social Worker of the Year award in 2004.
